The Peacock Saree
She walked in.
The room stands still.
Inspired by the iconic Paithani saree of Maharashtra, the Peacock is a one-of-a-kind bridal creation by Sananda Basak — handcrafted in Abutai silk, naturally dyed in deep emerald, and adorned with real peacock feathers. Twenty days. Five hands. One unforgettable bride.

Dreamed into existence.
She was a Maharashtrian bride — and she wanted her saree to tell that story. Not just wear it, but carry it. Sananda's inspiration came from the most iconic textile of Maharashtra — the Paithani saree, with its legendary peacock woven into the pallu, a motif that has adorned Maharashtrian brides for centuries.
But this was not a Paithani. It was something new — a reimagining. The peacock was no longer woven into the fabric. It was embroidered by hand, brought to life with intricate beadwork and sequins, and then — in a decision that made the room fall silent — real peacock feathers were cascaded down the pallu, emerging from the embroidered bird as if it were alive.
Crafted from Abutai Mulberry silk and naturally dyed in deep emerald green, the saree took 20 days to complete — from the first sketch to the final stitch — with a team of five artisans working alongside Sananda herself. Every lotus, every feather, every bead was placed with intention. This was not a garment. It was a tribute to a bride, a culture, and a craft.

Every angle.
Every detail.

Where art meets
the wedding day.
The peacock on the pallu is not printed, not woven — it is hand embroidered, stitch by stitch, over days. The body of the bird is built from thousands of beads and sequins. The tail feathers are real — each one carefully hand-stitched into the fabric at the precise angle to fall naturally as the bride moves.
Alongside the peacock, hand-embroidered lotus flowers bloom across the pallu — a nod to the Paithani tradition where nature is always present. Every petal is raised, every leaf is detailed, every element tells a part of the story of Maharashtra's most celebrated textile heritage.
The blouse — in contrasting saffron yellow — carries its own story. Cold shoulder detailing with cascading pearl draping, hand-embroidered motifs, and a high neck that frames the bride's face with quiet elegance. Together, saree and blouse are inseparable — designed as one complete vision.
