Sustainability

Our Commitment to the Planet

Fashion that gives
more than it takes.

At MAGS by Sananda Basak, sustainability isn't a label we wear — it's a decision we make every single day, from the fabric we choose to the tree we plant with every outfit sold.

Fabric Waste — Scraps Become Jewellery
2019
Year We Made the Commitment
Why it matters

The fashion industry is one of the world's
largest polluters. We chose a different path.

In 2019, when Sananda was ready to launch her first original collection, she asked one question: could we make something beautiful without costing the earth? Every decision since — every fabric, every process, every partnership — has been the answer to that question.

What we're made of

Every fibre we use is
chosen with intention.

01
Lenzing EcoVero™
FSC-Certified · Low Emission

Made from sustainable wood pulp sourced from responsibly managed forests. EcoVero™ produces up to 50% lower emissions and water impact compared to conventional viscose — without compromising on the soft, flowing drape you feel when you wear it.

02
Bemberg™
Regenerated · Biodegradable

A regenerated fibre made from cotton linter in a closed-loop production process — meaning almost no waste, no harmful discharge. Bemberg™ is fully biodegradable, breathable, and naturally anti-static. It feels like luxury because it is.

03
Jilin Viscose
Plant-Based · Responsible Sourcing

Plant-based viscose sourced from responsibly managed forests. Soft, breathable, and biodegradable — a fabric that works with the earth rather than against it, while delivering the elegance and movement our designs are known for.

04
Birla Lyocell
Made in India · Closed-Loop

Produced by Birla Cellulose, one of India's leading sustainable fibre innovators, Birla Lyocell is made from certified wood pulp in a closed-loop process that recycles water and solvents. Naturally soft, moisture-wicking, and fully biodegradable — conscious luxury, proudly sourced from India.

Fabric scraps repurposed into jewellery at MAGS
Zero Waste Philosophy

Our offcuts don't go to
landfill. They become jewellery.

Every scrap of fabric left over from production — every trim, every offcut — is gathered and transformed into handmade fabric jewellery by our artisans.

This isn't just waste reduction. It's circular fashion in its most beautiful form — where the end of one creation becomes the beginning of another.

Every piece of MAGS jewellery carries a piece of a garment's story within it.

Regenerative cotton fabric at MAGS
Water Efficiency

Less water.
More conscience.

Conventional cotton is one of the thirstiest crops on earth. Our regenerated and plant-based fibres require significantly less water to produce — without any compromise on the quality, texture, or beauty of the finished garment.

When you wear MAGS, you're wearing a choice that was made long before the fabric ever reached Sananda's hands.

MAGS × Sankalptaru

50 trees planted.
And we're just getting started.

In partnership with Sankalptaru, every MAGS outfit sold plants a tree in Maharashtra. Not a promise. Not a percentage. One outfit, one tree — every time.

50 trees in the ground so far. Each one a living record of every woman who chose to wear fashion that gives back.
